Why On Track Tuition

On Track Tuition opened for business in 2012 at Fullarton House in Eastwood, moved to Norwood in 2018 and finally settled into its current premises at 67 King William Road Unley in 2020. Private tuition sessions are offered to students in primary and middle school (Years 3-10) in the areas of Literacy, Mathematics and Science. I also provide specialist private tuition for senior secondary students (Years 11-12) in SACE Activating Identities Futures (AIF)and Stage 1 and 2 SACE Biology. Additionally, intensive sessions in study skills are offered to all high school students (Years 7-12) in either a private or small group setting.

Improvements in Confidence, Self-Esteem and Successful Academic Progress

Success does not always have to mean a perfect Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) score of ‘20/20’ for every child. For many children the goal is simply to get along with the other students at school, complete homework to a satisfactory level or even just pass an algebra test. At On Track Tuition it is a joy to mentor not only children, but also adults and help them work towards achieving their goals; no matter how large or small. I work hard to help students realise their potential and through their increased confidence I find academic progress improves.

Personalised Approach to Tuition Catering to Students’ Individual Learning Needs and Preferred Learning Styles

I assist neurotypical children with their learning needs, as well as neurodivergent students, such as those diagnosed with specific learning difficulties such as: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia and Dyslexia to name a few. I regularly attend conferences and workshops to upskill in this area, such as the annual ADHD conference at the Adelaide Convention Centre. I regularly attend workshops at the annual Maths Association of South Australia (MASA) conference, as well as various workshops run by the South Australian Science Teachers Association (SASTA) in Year 12 SACE Biology to keep abreast of the latest teaching skills and curriculum updates. Additionally, I have experience in teaching adults in a range of tertiary settings, such as primary school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.

School Holiday Sessions Available in January, April, July, October and December

School holiday sessions are run in April, July, October and the December/January summer break to help students improve their knowledge and gain confidence before the next school term. Year 12 SACE Biology Revision Seminars are offered upon request for individuals and groups of students.
School holiday timetables are published on the website prior to the upcoming holiday period. Bookings can be made for preferred times by simply sending an email, text or making a phone call. Confirmation of the day and time will be the made with On Track Tuition, with payments due prior to the selected session/s.

Regular Communication and Feedback of Progress with Parents of School-Age Students

I regularly communicate openly with parents via phone, email and most importantly face-to-face. I believe it is important that parents are informed about the progress of their child’s learning, so that they can encourage and support their child as they work through the tuition experience. Psychological assessments, past assessment items and school reports are used to help inform tuition in terms of the planning and pedagogical approach. In this way I can provide a personalised program to accommodate each student’s individual learning needs. Advice is provided concerning recommended academic resources including study guides, textbooks, manipulatives and educationally approved online websites/software to support student learning. At the request of parents, I can liaise with their child’s teacher to ensure that schools have the opportunity to provide recommendations about concepts that students may need additional support with.

I hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) which means that I have been subject to a complete government police screening check which is a legal requirement for unregistered teachers/tutors. I undergo regular First Aid Training to ensure that you can trust that your child is safe in my care. I pride myself on being a patient, caring and supportive role model, who enjoys working with students and regularly liaising with a unique community of other like-minded child and adolescent health and education professionals. I am also able to refer parents to a range of excellent professionals including counsellors, dyslexic literacy specialist tutors, psychologists and speech therapists who can advise parents and work directly with children by mentoring them and equipping them with a skill-set to support them, as they face both the social, emotional, mental-health and academic challenges that impact school life. On Track Tuition is an inclusive LGBTQI+ friendly space in which students will feel welcome, cared for and supported.

On Track Tuition is conveniently located just 5 minutes’ drive from the CBD of Adelaide at 67 King William Road, Unley. A regular bus service (200, 200C) operates on King William Road with transport to and from the city. Ample parking with 2- and 3-hour parks available on nearby Hughes St, Unley. This makes the face-to-face tuition experience easily accessible to many students from a large number of schools in the Adelaide metropolitan area.
